DATA RESIDENCY AND DATA SOVEREIGNTY, THE INWEB ADRIATICO WAY
As businesses become increasingly dependent on digital services, the question of where data is stored—and who has real control over it—has become more important than ever. Inweb Adriatico puts data sovereignty at the centre of its approach, combining proprietary infrastructure, certified security and direct control of the entire technology chain. From connectivity and data centres to cloud services, collaboration tools and cybersecurity, the company provides an integrated environment designed to keep critical data secure, accessible and under control.

When data becomes a company’s most strategic asset, the real question is no longer whether to move it to the cloud, but where it lives and who genuinely controls it. Inweb Adriatico answers with one principle: your data stays within an infrastructure we run end to end. Inweb Adriatico is an Italian Internet Service Provider and a regulated operator under the NIS2 Directive. It is certified ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 27017 by DNV, recognised by the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) as an “essential asset”, and authorised by the Italian Ministry of Defence for IoT experimentation in high-criticality sectors. These are not badges bought off the shelf: they are audited, renewed and independently verified.
Our infrastructure is our own, from the servers to the network backbone. We operate proprietary data centres on both Italian coasts – Adriatic (east) and Tyrrhenian (west) – with direct points of presence at FiberCop, OpenFiber, Namex and Terna. This direct interconnection with the national “Relevant Network” (Rete Rilevante) lets us treat a client’s distributed sites as a single, seamless internal network. We run our own Autonomous System with native IPv4 and IPv6, carry traffic across MPLS and VxLAN, and – as an accredited registrar for .it and every other TLD, and an issuer of SSL certificates – we govern the chain from the domain name to the encryption that protects it.

What does this mean in practice?
Nothing we deliver depends on thirdparty clouds. Your email, files, calendar and video calls run on a proven opensource collaboration suite that we host and operate on our own infrastructure, not rented from a public hyperscaler. Behind it sits a stack we build and manage in house: PostgreSQL and Ceph for data and storage, HAProxy and keepalived for delivery and high availability, a complete mail platform (Postfix, OpenDKIM/OpenDMARC, IMAP), Keycloak and OpenBao for identity and secrets, application runtimes (php-fpm, Tomcat, Spring, XCP-ng, Valkey), and end-to-end observability with Elasticsearch, Kibana and Fleet. One stack, one team, one point of responsibility: when something needs attention, there is no finger-pointing between vendors. This is what data residency and data sovereignty look like in practice. Your data travels from your premises to our infrastructure and stays there. It is not handed to third parties, and it is never used – not your files, not your voice, not your face – to train AI models. The whole chain stays under our control. And who controls us? DNV does, on your behalf, through the audits that keep our mandatory and voluntary certifications alive. The ACN does, within the national cybersecurity perimeter.

This is sovereignty you don’t have to take on trust: certified, audited and Italian by design.
