R. STAHL stands at the forefront of innovation in hazardous area technology, continuously setting new standards for safety, reliability and performance.
The company’s expertise spans across various sectors, from automation and control to telecommunication and network solutions, ensuring that clients have access to highly specialized products tailored to their specific needs. As industries evolve and technology advances, R. STAHL remains committed to providing cutting-edge products that withstand the toughest conditions, offering unmatched versatility and protection in hazardous environments.
R. STAHL has been a leading manufacturer of products and technology for installation in hazardous areas for over 80 years. Headquartered in Waldenburg, Germany, the company is one of the world’s leading suppliers of Ex products for automation, control and distribution, installation, lighting and optical-acoustic signaling.
Specifically, in the field of telecontrol networks, Stahl offers certified materials for explosion-risk areas, such as network devices and Remote IO. For wireless network solutions, Stahl offers WLAN Access Points for installation in ATEX zone 1/21 (type 8265, Ex d) and zone 2/22 (type 7145, Ex e).
Features include:
•WLAN up to 300 Mbit/s, with 802.11 a, b, g, (n) standards, on 2.4 and/or 5 GHz
•Robust stainless steel or GRP housing, IP66 protection rating, operating temperature range of -40 to +60°C
•Intuitive configuration via web browser
•Solutions based on preferred IT hardware from the customer (e.g., with standard de facto devices like Cisco 2802i or 2802e), assembled and tested by Stahl at the factory.
•Versions with 1 or 2 external omnidirectional antennas, 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz
The IS1+ remote I/O system, suitable for use in hazardous areas in zones 1 and 2, offers versatile options for managing field devices via standard Ethernet technologies. This is achieved thanks to a wide range of I/O modules for handling intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe signals, as well as special modules for pneumatic signals.
In addition to ModbusRTU and Profibus DP communication, the system supports Ethernet-based networks, such as PROFINET, ModbusTCP, and EtherNet/ IP.
Users of the IS1+ Remote I/O will benefit from significant advantages, such as multifunctional DI/DO and AI/AO I/O modules—where each individual channel can be parameterized and configured
individually as an input or output—and preventive maintenance indication (“End of Service-Life”), determined up to twelve months in advance of the expected failure, displayed locally with a blue LED and communicated to the higher-level control system via a network message, according to Namur NE107.
The Stahl Remote I/O is designed to be used even in extreme environmental conditions, in situations with extremely. high temperatures (up to +75°C) or low temperatures (-40°C), high humidity, significant vibrations, and aggressive atmospheres (presence of salt). Many certifications from maritime control authorities (DNV-GL, LR, BV, ABS, CCS, KRS, ClassNK, PRS, RINA, RS) attest to these features.
