INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE DRONES MARKET
With a strong commitment to research and development, MAVTech provides complete systems integrating hardware, software, and communication platforms for seamless and efficient use. As the company expands into international markets and drives innovation, it remains at the forefront of aerial technology.

MAVTech (Micro Aerial Vehicles Technology) designs, develops and produces advanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) systems for many professional applications mainly in industrial, agriculture, public utilities and safety sectors. The company’s solutions are provided to the final customers “as a whole system” including hardware, software and communication platforms, thus allowing easy and prompt usage.
The product catalogue includes rotarywing drones as quadcopter and hexacopter UAV, that may be equipped with different sensors and other specific payloads suitable for a wide range of applications such as inspections, surveys, monitoring, search & rescue, agricultural spraying and dispensing. Furthermore, the development of a new generation of fixed-wing and FPV (First Person View) drones and a UAV / UGV (rovers) collaboration solution is ongoing.
All the products are designed and produced in Italy, in the two company sites in Turin and Bolzano. Thanks to its internal engineering team, MAVTech solutions may be easily tailored to customers’ specifications. A technical support and maintenance team, together with qualified UAV pilots and flight instructors squad, completes MAVTech profile.
Company portrait
MAVTech experience in the drone world began 20 years ago and therefore boasts a large number of innovative research projects since the beginning of this technology’s development.
Founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the Polytechnic of Turin, MAVTech was established as the first Italian company to patent a fixed-wing microplane. Since its start, the company has maintained a strong and ongoing collaboration with universities and research institutes, fostering a deep commitment to research and innovation.

MAVTech was co-founded by Giorgio Guglieri, Professor at the Polytechnic of Turin and Director of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS), and Fulvia Quagliotti, former Professor at the Polytechnic of Turin and now President of Piedmont Aerospace District. Both of them played a crucial role in shaping the company’s technological and scientific mission. In 2008, MAVTech was awarded the prestigious “Premio Galileo Ferraris” for innovation. Five years later, expanding its presence, the company settled at the Techno Innovation Park South Tyrol (TIS) in Bolzano and in 2017 moved to the just established NOI Techpark Südtirol, one of the main Italian technological hubs.
In July 2023, the founders appointed Roberto Bellora as CEO, with the mission to develop new business opportunities and to transfer the relevant and valuable know-how of MAVTech from the research field to the market. With this new strategy, the company is addressing well defined B2B markets and is investing in the enhancement of its team, including people coming from different countries and with many professional skills. The Industrial Plan foresees the implementation of product and process engineering and a significant growth in manufacturing capability.
Looking ahead, MAVTech aims to expand its presence in both national and international markets, particularly in Europe, the Far East, and Latin America countries.
Applications
Drones play an increasingly crucial role in managing critical activities across various industries. Equipped with advanced sensors, they collect vast amounts of data processed by AI-driven software, enabling rapid and precise decisionmaking. Their applications range from environmental and industrial disaster response to supporting human tasks, enhancing safety and efficiency. In Search & Rescue missions MAVTech collaborates with the Corpo Nazionale Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico (CNSAS), providing drones for alpine environment. UAVs can quickly reach inaccessible areas, locate missing persons via thermal cameras or the Lifeseeker device, able to detect a missing person who has his cell phone turned on, and even transport life-saving equipment such as defibrillators. AI algorithms enhance these operations by detecting human presence through vegetation or fire.

Environmental Monitoring is increasingly vital. Drones provide rapid, cost-effective surveillance of forests, rivers, protected areas, supporting resource management and enabling swift action against fires, poaching, and illegal waste dumping.
Precision Agriculture benefits greatly from UAV technology. MAVTech drones conduct terrain mapping, assess plant health, detect diseases, and optimize irrigation needs. Sharp application of fertilizers, pesticides, and even beneficial insects improves efficiency while promoting sustainable agriculture by reducing products and water usage.
Drones are particularly valuable in inaccessible terrains, including “heroic agriculture” areas, where traditional machinery cannot operate.
Infrastructure Monitoring is a key area in MAVTech’s strategy. UAVs provide high-resolution data for inspecting power lines, railways, roads, bridges, and viaducts, detecting structural issues without the need for scaffolding or platforms.
Swarm drone inspections in GPS-shaded areas of bridges ensure reliable results while drastically reducing execution time and worker risks.
Drones are also essential for Renewable Energy Plant Maintenance, offering precise inspections for large or remote facilities.
Advanced UAV solutions improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance safety, making them the best tool for industrial and public utility maintenance teams.
Projects
MAVTech actively collaborates on national and international projects to innovate UAV technology in safety, infrastructure, and environmental applications. The main ones are:
LEAFLET2.0 develops an AI-driven methodology to assess public green spaces’ health and structural stability, improving urban green management.
START2 builds a shared international Search & Rescue platform using drones for extreme alpine environments, involving key institutions like CNSAS and NOI Tech Park.
HURRICANE, funded by the European Commission, aims to revolutionize emergency management for extreme events. MAVTech UAVs will detect fires and missing persons.
AMPLF-AI develops an AI-powered drone solution for infrastructure monitoring, focusing on power lines and cable car systems. CAPRI, funded by ESA, promotes drone swarms to inspect bridges, ensuring faster and safer structural assessments. Through strategic partnerships and advanced UAV innovations, MAVTech continues to drive the future of aerial operations, enhancing safety, sustainability, and efficiency across industries.
