UFS, almost 80 years of passion in the threading world
UFS, acronym for Utensili Filettatori Sparone (Threading Tools made in Sparone), is an Italian company specialized in threading tools, since 1947.
Under its own brand, UFS designs, produces and markets a range of catalog products, as well as supplies “private label” products for specialized distribution chains.
These include cutting and forming taps, gauges, dies and tools for checking and calibrating threads. Also creates “special” products based on the customer’s design or in co-design. The company employs approximately 80 people including employees and collaborators, as well as many others commercial agents.
Over the last 30 years, UFS has adapted its resources to market needs technical, productive and organizational transformations that have characterized its constant development. Production expansions, new research departments, the use of cutting-edge computers order management and scheduling systems and quality certifications were natural and continuous evolutions that have consolidated the organization of resources and internal tasks.
This it allowed us to achieve excellent productivity and complete control of the entire operating process. Various automated warehouses divided by raw materials, semi finished products and finished products, together with well-organised logistics, guarantee deliveries within 48 hours of order confirmation.
The activity takes place in three structures that carry out complementary processes to the whole product construction cycle.
Site 1, the historic structure that first underwent transformation in the 1970s, is an area with 50 production units mainly special CNC grinding machines but also washing, polishing, drilling, marking and labeling systems. In addition to production Site 1 hosts the metrological laboratory “B” where tool geometries and threads are constantly checked. Management and administration offices are also located here.
Site 2 is near. This structure was equipped at the end of the 90s and intended to host the most advanced technological part, which includes the technical office that designs the instruments and the R&D area where the metrological laboratory “C” is located and a test room for verifying the functionality and durability of the products.
Over the years it has been further expanded and equipped for plasma coating (PVD) for tools for highly automated series production that requires high resistance to wear and operating temperatures, as well as easy chip evacuation.
Finally, Site 3, fully operational for the last decade, concentrates all those related activities the production of roughing, profiling and tempering. This site includes turning production departments, hardening furnace department and the metrological laboratory “A” which is dedicated to all metallographic analyses.
Accurate checks are carried out both on steel bars using a mass spectrometer and on hardened material with analysis of hardness of the charge and control of the carbide.
