Conser

Italian Engineering company oriented to the development and licensing of petrochemical technologies

CONSER is an Italian Process Engineering Design Company founded in 1969 providing Licensing and Basic Design to chemical process industries and high quality technical consulting services.
With the aim to provide a service with optimum quality characteristics, all the project phases are managed.
Starting with feasibility studies, process development, licensing of processes and know–how transfer, process design package preparation, supervision of detailed engineering and construction, CONSER follow its client up to and including assistance to initial start-up.
The main processes developed and licensed by CONSER are the following.

Butyl Rubber (IIR) and Halobutyl Rubber (HIIR). Butyl Rubber (IIR) is an elastomeric copolymer of Isobutylene and Isoprene, generally offered in a wide variety of polymer grades. Halobutyl Rubber (HIIR), such as Bromobuty (BIIR) or Chlorobutyl (CIIR) rubbers, is obtained through the halogenation of the isoprene groups of the IIR, producing a rubber with improved properties and characteristics. HIIR presents higher curing rates and can easily co-vulcanize in elastomer blends with other rubbers, such as NR (Natural Rubber), BR (Butadiene Rubber) and SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber). CONSER technology for the production of IIR and HIIR is characterized by the highest product quality and by reduced consumption of raw materials, chemicals and utilities.
The Polyisobutylene Rubber (PIB) technology is also part of CONSER know how in synthetic rubbers.Maleic Anhydride (MAN). Maleic Anhydride is a highly reactive colourless solid widely used in the petrochemical industries for Unsaturated Polyester Resins (UPR), fibreglass enriched resins, 1,4 Butanediol (BDO), lubricating oil additives, artificial sweeteners, flavour enhancements. CONSER is able to deliver an extremely efficient process design, guaranteeing the highest standard of product quality, while reducing the operating and capital costs. Thanks to an improved reaction system integrated with a patented process of recovery and purification, CONSER technology is highly advanced compared to the other commercial technologies available.
Starting from Maleic Anhydride, CONSER is in position to offer also the following product chain. The esterification of Maleic Anhydride with methanol, followed by hydrogenation of the resulting ester, and the consequent co-production of 1,4 Butanediol (BDO), Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL). The process allows very high flexibility in the final products distribution, with the highest purity standards, and it can be well integrated with the upstream Maleic Anhydride technology. CONSER is able to provide the technical design also for emerging Butanediol biological route from bio-based Succinic Acid (BIO-BDO). From GBL, by adding Mono-Methylamine, CONSER offer the technology to produce N-Methyl-Pyrrolidone (NMP).In CONSER portfolio, there are Malic Acid (MAL) and Fumaric Acid (FAC) technologies. MAL and FAC are organic compounds derived from Maleic Anhydride (MAN). They are adopted in several different well established applications, such as food, beverages, textile industry.
Epichlorohydrin (ECH). Epichlorohydrin is a C3 organic epoxy compound, which combines the reactivity of an epoxy group (an oxygen bridge) with the additional reactivity of a chloro group. The major application of Epichlorohydrin is for the epoxy resin production accounting for over 75% of the total market. Conser is able to offer a technologically advanced process, combining several improvements: from the minimization of utilities consumptions and waste product by using different type of alkali agent ,to the highest standards of quality of the product. CONSER, in addition to the conventional epichlorohydrin process (ECH), developed and patented the green technology route, called ECH-EF (Epichlorohydrin Eco-Friendly), to produce epichlorohydrin using glycerin and hydrogen chloride as raw materials.
Propylene oxide. Propylene oxide is a clear, colourless highly reactive C3 compound, and it is one of the main building block of the petrochemical portfolio worldwide.

The CONSER Propylene Oxide conventional process (CHPO) is based on the chlorohydrination route using propylene, chlorine and milk of lime as feedstock via the classic production route. This route is the most economic for plants of average capacity and in all cases where the massive production of co-products (e.g. styrene), as in other technologies, is not justified. CONSER is in position to offer a valid advanced propylene oxide technology, characterized by improved efficiencies, easy, safe and reliable operation and very high purity of the product (greater than 99.9%), together with the minimization in the waste water production thanks to the use of different alkali agents and thanks to an advanced waste water treatment concept.
In addition to those here above listed, CONSER can offer several kinds of other products all based on advanced technologies, optimized to maximize capacity and minimize consumptions. We shall mention between the others:
Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK), Trimellitic Anhydride (TMA), Biodiesel, Ethanolamines, Propylene Glycol, Acetone Derivatives, PTMEG, Plasticizers, Glycol Ethers, MDEA.
Today CONSER can boast several customers in Russia, China, Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, U.S.A., Europe and Italy.
