V-TEC CABLE GLANDS: INNOVATION MEETS EFFICIENCY
In professional electrical installation, every component counts — cable glands are no exception. Tasked with sealing, securing and protecting cables cable glands must perform reliably under mechanical stress, temperature extremes and the requirements of demanding environments. OBO Bettermann has long addressed these needs through its V-TEC range – a family of cable glands engineered to combine certified protection with installer-friendly design.

The V-TEC Family: Polyamide and Nickel- Plated Brass
The V-TEC range is available in two main variants, each optimised for different operating environments. Plastic cable glands are lightweight, corrosion-resistant and well suited for applications for moderate chemical and mechanical demands. Nickelplated brass glands allow for greater mechanical robustness and resistance to aggressive substances, thus ideal for heavy industrial environments.
Both families are available in fully metric thread sizes conforming to IEC 423, with a VM (standard) variant and an LL (long-thread) version. The polyamide V-TEC VM glands achieve protection class IP 68 at 5 bar for one hour. The seal ring material ensures compatibility with a wide range of cable jackets. Strain relief, anti-rotation protection and tightness are guaranteed. Flame retardancy is another key attribute: the polyamide compound meets the requirements of VDE 0471 / IEC Part 1-2 at a glow-wire test temperature of 750 °C. The operating temperature window of –20 °C to +65 °C covers the vast majority of industrial and building scenarios. Colour options include light grey (RAL 7035), silver-grey and jet black, enabling straightforward system coordination and panel aesthetics. The split-shaft version V-TEC TB is ideal for retrofit and maintenance work: its split-seal design allows the gland to be fitted around an existing cable without disconnecting it. Protection class IP 67 is maintained, and strain relief is tested in accordance with DIN EN 50262. V-TEC PUSH®: The
New Generation of Cable Glands
Announced in April 2026, the V-TEC PUSH® is the most significant recent development in OBO Bettermann’s cable gland portfolio. No rotation, no locknut, no internal access required: the gland is simply pressed into the housing knockout from the outside. The mechanism behind this patented innovation is an internal metal spring. When the gland body is pushed through the opening, flexible hooks spread outward and lock behind the enclosure wall, held securely by the spring’s tension. The metal spring is a deliberate choice: plastic ones are susceptible to material flow over time, which can cause the clamping force to diminish. A metal spring eliminates this risk, preserving retention force.
Key advantages of V-TEC PUSH®:
•Push-in technology reduces mounting time
•The spring-tension locking mechanism provides secure retention
•Metal spring prevents material flow (creep), ensuring long-term retention force
•Suitable for wall thicknesses of 1–3 mm
•Compatible with the existing V-TEC cap nut
•Compliant with DIN EN 62444 for strain relief and cable protection.
•Operational temperature range: –20 °C to +65 °C.
•Available in M20 and M25 thread sizes, in light grey RAL 7035.
•Every package includes a dedicated dismantling tool for removal. The V-TEC PUSH® is designed for use across a broad spectrum of applications, both in residential settings and demanding industrial environments.
Typical fields of application include junction boxes and distributor boxes, control cabinets and automation panels, machine and system construction and outdoor installations. This wide range of application reflects a strategic alignment with OBO Bettermann’s industrial portfolio, in which the V-TEC cable glands act as part of an integrated system alongside cable trays, fixing systems and junction boxes.

A Family Built for the Future of Installation
The V-TEC product family demonstrates how incremental engineering refinement and innovation can coexist in a mature product category. The established polyamide and nickel-plated brass variants deliver certified, long-proven performance for standard and demanding environments alike, while the new V-TEC PUSH® breaks new ground with a pushin installation concept that directly addresses the industry’s perennial challenge of reducing assembly time without sacrificing reliability.
