BKRS Walkable Cable Trays
BKRS walkable cable trays are designed to ensure maximum mechanical strength and safety in the most demanding industrial conditions. Available in widths from 100 to 600 mm with a side height of 110 mm, they are made of 2 mm plate thickness, providing high structural stability even under significant dynamic loads.
The chequer plate cover (DBKR), provides a safe walking surface for inspection and maintenance activities. It is certified in accordance to DIN 51130 (anti-slip performance rated R11), ensuring secure footing even in the presence of oils, grease or other substances. In addition, compliance with drainage class V10, allows effective liquid evacuation, maximising safety. The chequer design of the cover and edges also ensures safe stepping (up and down) and movement, drastically reducing the risk of slipping and tripping, in full compliance with BGR 181 and ASR A1.5/1.2 regulations.
From a mechanical perspective, the BKRS cable tray system is designed to withstand heavy loads, impacts and vibrations. The use of 2 mm plate thickness for the tray, cover and separators creates a robust closed structure, supporting demanding installations as per evidence in the OBO Bettermann BET Test Centre. The metal construction also provides effective electromagnetic shielding, ensuring high EMC compatibility and making the system suitable for power cables and sensitive control and data cables.
The system has also been tested according to IEC 61537: when properly installed the cover can support walkable loads of up to 350 kg (depending on configuration and installation guidelines).
BKRS and LKM Integration for a Complete Solution
Complementing the main cable routing infrastructure, OBO Bettermann’s LKM metal cable duct provides the ideal solution for enclosed cable distribution in areas adjacent to machines, control panels and sensitive equipment. The closed design protects cables from impacts, dust and contaminating agents, improving reliability and installation durability. Available in ten different sizes, with galvanized or painted finishes, the LKM system offers maximum flexibility. A wide range of accessories—including separators, edge protection elements, end caps and fixing systems—supports a modular and orderly installation, even when modifications are required after installation.
BKRS walkable cable trays and LKM metal ducts create a complete cable management infrastructure: the former acts as the backbone for large cable routes, while LKM components ensure protected and organized connections to machinery and equipment. The complementarity of the systems ensures:
