THREE ROTOTEC INNOVATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

Sustainable water resource management is now a strategic priority in a global context marked by increasing scarcity and growing attention to the environmental impact of infrastructure. Technological innovation plays a key role in rethinking how water is used, treated, and reused, offering increasingly efficient and integrated solutions. It is within this framework that Rototec’s latest developments are positioned, designed to meet the needs of a constantly evolving market.

Efficient water resource management has become one of the main challenges for both civil and industrial sectors. Designers, engineers and construction companies are increasingly required to adopt sustainable solutions capable of reducing consumption and improving water management systems. In this context, Rototec – a company specialized in the development of water storage and treatment solutions – introduces three new systems designed for the international market: REGRIGIO, SBR and KAR.

REGRIGIO: giving greywater a second life
Showers, sinks and bathtubs generate large amounts of greywater every day, which in most buildings is simply discharged. In some applications, such as sports facilities or buildings with changing rooms only, blackwater is not present and the water used in showers and washbasins can potentially be reused for other purposes. To meet this need, Rototec developed REGRIGIO, a system designed to recover, treat and reuse greywater for nonpotable applications. The treated water can be reused for toilet flushing, cleaning operations or garden irrigation.

The system combines sedimentation, filtration and membrane ultrafiltration, ensuring high-quality treated water and long-term operational reliability. Thanks to its compact design and automated management, REGRIGIO can be easily installed in garages, technical rooms or outdoor spaces. It represents a practical solution for reducing potable water consumption and supporting the design of more sustainable buildings.

SBR: compact wastewater treatment technology
Within Rototec’s wastewater treatment range, the SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) system offers an efficient and compact solution for both domestic and industrial applications. One of the main advantages of this system is the ability to perform multiple treatment phases inside a single tank. The process operates in programmed cycles that include denitrification, biological reaction, sedimentation and treated water extraction.

Unlike traditional continuous-flow systems, the SBR process works in a controlled discontinuous cycle, allowing efficient management even when hydraulic loads fluctuate. Rototec SBR systems are designed to serve from 1 to 50 population equivalents and are managed through an intelligent control panel that automatically regulates the different operating phases.

KAR: a new standard for underground infrastructures
In the underground infrastructure sector, projects are becoming increasingly complex and require reliable and flexible installation solutions. To respond to these demands, Rototec developed KAR, a new modular traffic-rated tank line.

The Infinitank KAR range is designed for underground installations with depths between 40 and 150 cm, supporting traffic loads of up to 12 tons without the need for reinforced concrete slabs. Manufactured using high-performance polymers, these modular tanks provide capacities ranging from 11,000 to 40,000 liters, ensuring high mechanical resistance, durability and installation flexibility. The system was developed through advanced engineering analyses, geotechnical studies and more than a year of field testing under real operating conditions.

With REGRIGIO, SBR and KAR, Rototec introduces three innovative solutions that demonstrate how technology and sustainability can work together to improve water resource management and support the development of more efficient infrastructures worldwide.
