Established in 1977, the IDECO Group has steadily grown to become a recognized leader in the national and international markets for water and air treatment. The IDECO brand, registered and widely known thanks to over 10,000 units and systems delivered and installed across Europe, identifies the company as one of the industry’s leading players. Ideco design efficient and longlasting plants.
Over the years, IDECO has refined BATCH processing techniques initially developed for small-scale, predominantly physico-chemical treatment processes. These batch systems have since evolved to support biological treatments using activated sludge. With the integration of new automation technologies, batch systems now manage significantly higher volumes of wastewater. The batch treatment process for physico-chemical applications primarily requires an accumulation tank equipped with a mixer-equalizer, capable of storing the water volume designated for treatment.
The reactor tank must be built with appropriate materials to withstand aggressive, alkaline or corrosive water, along with added chemical agents dosed and monitored via pH-Redox control systems. Once the flocculation, oxidation or similar reaction is completed, the process continues with sedimentation or flotation, followed by sludge removal and dewatering. For small-scale plants, nonwoven drainage bags with capacities of 200 to 1.000 liters are typically used. Subsequent treatment stages may include filtration, activated carbon adsorption, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ozone treatment to achieve the desired discharge quality. Ideco offers fully tested and modular systems available as compact, skid-mounted units with capacities of 1.500, 2.000, 3.000, or 5.000 liters, ready for rapid deployment. These systems have been successfully implemented in industries such as painting and coating, component washing, battery crushing, pigment production, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemicals, marble and aggregate processing, wine production, mechanical industries etc.
Batch treatment is also particularly effective for wastewater with predominantly biological, such as from residential facilities, campsites, hotels, commercial centers, clinics, and industries with variable effluent characteristics (e.g., dairies, poultry farms, slaughterhouses). In these contexts, batch processing offers practical and safe operational advantages. Depending on the characteristics of the influent, pretreatment (e.g., grease removal, pH adjustment) may be necessary, followed by post-treatment using filtration, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ozone, and other technologies. Our experience in biological batch processing, structurally similar to physico-chemical treatment, favors the use of prefabricated concrete tanks. These come fully equipped with equalization, lifting, and oxidation systems (using submersible aerators), along with skimmers for post-sedimentation and denitrification transfer. These standardized systems are ideal for up to 250 population equivalents (PE). For larger capacities, on-site constructed tanks are used and subsequently fitted with the required components. The biological batch approach simplifies the management of denitrification and phosphorus removal and results in lower sludge production compared to continuous systems.
The IDECO Group supports engineering firms, technical consultants, and plant designers with decades of experience in the design and construction of standard and custom water treatment equipment and plants, backed by a qualified guarantee and technical assistance.
