At the heart of Mattei compressors lies the exclusive rotary vane technology, which enables efficient compressed air production while significantly reducing energy costs, CO2 emissions, eliminates the need for overhauls and signficantly lowers overall operating costs.
In Mattei compressors, the compression unit consists of a single off-center rotor rotating within a cylindrical stator. The compression element is enclosed by two end covers housing two white metal bushings in lieu of traditional ball or roller bearings. The rotor contains longitudinal slots in which free-moving vanes slide in and out. The “bearingless” design and proprietary construction
eliminates the mechanical play that results from the loss of tolerances that plague other compression technologies in retaining performance over time.
Thanks to vane technology, Mattei compressors—both variable and fixed speed—deliver performance that exceeds industry standards. It is common to experience more than 100,000 hours of operation without the need for component replacement or major overhauls, and over 15% energy savings compared to other rotary compressors, even in continuous duty cycles.

Each year, the company reinvests 5% of its revenue in the Innovation and Industrialization division to develop increasingly high-performing, long lasting energy efficient solutions tailored to the diverse industries it serves. Compressed air generation is an energy- intensive process that produces heat as a by-product. Mattei has developed a heat recovery system that can be installed on all air compressors, enabling up to 80% of the thermal energy generated during operation to be recovered and reused for other purposes.
