materialLABELTM and smart production: the factory process revolution develops from ESL

The success case for Quality control
A software house specializing in software solutions and industrial automation for small and medium-sized companies, Logikamente S.r.l., helped a well-known multinational packaging company to update its production quality control system by transforming hard copydocuments into electronic files thanks to Electronic Shelf Labels and the materialLABELTM app. This allows an immediate interaction between operators and labels with concrete benefits in terms of time saving, reducing paper waste, and traceability of information. In the production plant, next to the material which is still to be checked, a box is placed containing a large number of white labels (ESL without any content except for the mac address which is marked as a bar code) and, as soon as the necessary checks have been done on the material, the operator takes a white label, reads the bar code with the materialLABELTM app, and then selects the correct content from the ones which are preconfigured in the system; thanks to the message on the label, the operators carry on the production cycle reducing dead time for reprinting and avoiding the application of paper labels.
4.0 Trolleys for production logistics ESL and materialLABELTM, used together with the RFID tag, have been used by a large company in the household electrical appliance industry in order to transform common trol leys used for the transport of items into 4.0 trolleys. At the end of each manufacturing process, the items coming off the production line are placed by an automatic robot in a box identified by a unique RFID tag. As soon as a trolley is full of a specific item, the robot PLC system reads the RFID tag on the box. Subsequently, the materialLABELTM app, by which the information is transferred on the labels, links all of the data to the process (item part number, type of product, quantity, etc., …) and the same data are engraved automatically on the digital label.
As soon as the subsequent processes have been performed and completed, the trolley is emptied and all of the information is cancelled and replaced by the details relating to the next production order.
